The Colorful Life

You guys know I dye my hair almost every three weeks or even two. But after years of doing it myself it gets harder and harder every time, especially because of the weather changes in New York. Lately, my hair has been extremely unhealthy so it was time to trust in a real hair colorist that could retouch my hair in a different way while taking good care of it.

Ya saben que me pinto el pelo casi cada tres semanas, o a veces hasta dos. Luego de años de hacerlo por mi cuenta haciendo un desastre en el baño debo confesar que se me hace mas dificil cada vez, especialmente por los cambios de clima que hay en Nueva York. Ultimamente, mi pelo ha estado menos saludable que nunca asi que era hora de confiar en un colorista que sepa lo que hace manteniendo mi pelo bien cuidado.

And here comes Aveda. I love that they innovate in botanical technologies. If you knew already, I basically live off plant based oils for my hair and Aveda is a leading brand that carries products with plant-based ingredients, including pure flower essences. For me, it makes a huge difference to use holistic products. If something I was told – which was my biggest beauty tip – is to treat yourself with products made from the earth… that’s the best way to take care of your skin and hair…you are the earth anyways. So I went to an Aveda salon called FOURTEENJAY, in TriBeca, and the experience makes me want to go back already.

Aqui es donde entra Aveda. Me fascina que innoven en tecnologias holisticas. Como saben basicamente vivo de aceites de plantas (sobretodo Romero y Lavanda!) y Aveda es una de esas marcas que tienen productos completamente naturales con ingredientes de la naturaleza como esencias de flores. Si alguna vez les conte, uno de los tips de belleza que siempre recuerdo es que que hay que cuidarnos con productos hechos por la madre tierra, por que nosotros justamente somos eso y esos products solo nos pueden hacer bien. Cuando Aveda me pidio que los representara como su embajadora me emocione mucho, no hay nada mejor que trabajar con una marca que comparte la misma vision. Hace una semana fui a uno de sus salones llamado FOURTEENJAY en Tribeca, y la experiencia fue tan buena que ya quiero regresar

FOURTEENJAY is personalized salon and the hairstylists, or more like hair artists were so cool. Co-founder and colorist, David Adams took care of my hair, and right when I got in he understood exactly what I wanted. I asked for a root retouch plus adding a more rich but darker auburn shade of red to the roots and a lighter red two inches below…while blending on my already there ombre. Something complicated but that seemed quite easy for him.

FOURTEENJAY es un salon bien personalizado, y los estilistas o mejor dicho, artistas son increibles. El co-fundador y colorista David Adams se encargo de mi ese dia y en cuanto entre entendio exactamente lo que queria. Le pedi un retoque de raiz y que depositara un toque de rojo mas oscuro y rico en tonalidad pero que mantenga mi ombre.

The process took a while, but it felt like seconds because I was spoiled with treats and could actually work on my laptop while at it.

El proceso tomo un tiempo pero se sintio casi como segundos, pude trabajar en mi laptop y tambien me engrieron con cosas para comer y beber.

Once the hair dye settled they washed it with Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo and Damage Remedy Conditioner and subsequently a Botanical Therapy deep treatment for my ends.

Una vez que el color penetro, lo lavaron con el shampoo Aveda Color Conserve y el acondicionador Aveda Damage Remedy seguido por un tratamiento de terapia botanica para recuperar mis puntas.

Co-owner Frank Rizzieri took care of styling my hair. He used the Brilliant Damage Control spray and turned my hair from flat to voluminous and vibrant.

El co- fundador Frank Rizzieri se encargo de secarme el pelo usando el Brilliant Damage control spray en mi pelo mojado… literalmente hizo que mi pelo deje de ser plano y aburrido y le dio volumen.
